Training courses for eu selection procedures

The University Institute of European Studies, officially recognized as European Documentation Center since 1952, has recently been included among the preparatory courses centers listed in EPSO (European Personnel Selection Office) website.

Starting from 2010, the new procedures managed by EPSO for the selection of European officials will enter into force.
There will be several and remarkable news, starting from the annual frequency of selection procedures for the recruiting of permanent staff positions (administrator, assistant and linguist), to the shift from knowledge-based competences to cross-cutting abilities and skills.
Moreover, the recent entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty will imply the knowledge of the most significant changes affecting the legal framework of the EU.

The Institute is therefore willing to organize its training courses according to the following guidelines:

  • courses will be launched in conjunction with the publication of the notice of competitions in the different fields (administrators, linguists, assistants)
  • courses will be open to all potential candidates, and will be taught in English, i.e. one of the three languages used for the majority of tests
  • courses will be short and intensive (a week approximately), so as to allow the participation of employed candidates as well
  • in order to convey to participants the theoretical and practical tools necessary to face the tests, traditional lectures will alternate with practical exercises, simulations and group works
  • lecturers will be highly specialized and will be able to match the training needs specific to competences and methodologies requested by the selection procedures

The next competitions (starting from March 2010) will be the first ones to be organized on the basis of the new selection procedures. Therefore, the methodological approach of the courses might be subsequently fine-tuned according to contents and competences emerging from the publication of the next Notice of competition in the Official Journal of the European Union.
