LIBEAC – Liberalism In Between Europe And China

The research project – presented by a partnership of some Italian and foreign Universities – by reflecting on the issues of EU-China relationships, aims at developing a new understanding of liberalism in its economic, political and social dimensions.

It involves a comparative analysis of the cultural differences in its interpretation and of the political discrepancies in its enforcement, in particular with respect to economic, social and environmental rights in China and Europe in Modern times. It is a multidisciplinary project based on a comparative study of European and Chinese political philosophy and political economy, legal practice and philosophy of right. The project was launched on 1st of January 2013 and will last for 4 years.

POREEN – Partnering Opportunities between Europe and China in the Renewable Energies and Environmental industries.

The research project aims at integrating and combining economic, legal and engineering competencies to analyze the level of economic cooperation reached so far between China and Europe in the renewable energy and the environment industries and to identify specific areas to boost partnership opportunities. The project was launched on 1st of January 2013 and will last for 4 years.

Focus on Collective Redress

IUSE has also given its support to the Law Department of the Turin University in presenting a project under the European Call “Civil Justice” (2007-2013) – JUST/2011 – 2012/JCIV/AG, published by the European Commission – Directorate General Justice, titled “Focus on Collective Redress”. The project has been approved by the European Union, so that IUSE actively takes part in the activities planned by the partners to the project.

ALCOTRA 2007-2013

The Institute has decided to participate in the European cross-border cooperation program ALCOTRA 2007-2013. The project that the Institute has presented in collaboration with universities and local authorities – both in Piedmont and in the cross-border French area – aimed at encouraging and facilitating cross-border participation in cross-border public procurement by Italian and French SMEs, with particular reference to contracts below the European threshold and the innovative procurement.

Effective Alternative Dispute Resolution in Administrative Law: Advancing Good Governance in the Administrative Justice System

In 2011, the Institute took part in a partnership for the presentation of a project titled “Effective Alternative Dispute Resolution in Administrative Law: Advancing Good Governance in the Administrative Justice System” in response to a Call under the Seventh European Framework Programme for Research and Development: Call FP7-SSH-2011-2.

Fundamental Rights and Citizenship 2007-2013

In 2010, on invitation by the Turin Olympic Park, IUSE took part in a call for proposals – Specific Programme on Fundamental Rights and Citizenship 2007-2013 – Specific Transnational Projects Grants – JLS/2009-2010 / FRAC / AG.

The project presented together with the other partners involved the analysis of cases of racism / stereotypes in the world of sports (with a focus on legislation) and a proposal for the realization of a professional “mediator” in sport activities.

Criminal Justice 2007-2013

The Institute has joined a partnership to present a contract under the European Programme “Criminal Justice 2007-2013” – JLS/2010/JPEN/AG/EJ. The project was presented by the National Research Council, Institute of Legal Information Theory and Techniques (ITTIG).

Negotiation Patterns and Processes in Addressing Key Challenges in Diverse Federal Contexts in India and Europe for the 21st Century

In 2010, the Institute took part in a partnership for the presentation of the project IND-EUR 21, titled “Negotiation Patterns and Processes in Addressing Key Challenges in Federal Different Contexts in India and Europe for the 21st Century”, as part of the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development: Call FP7-SSH-2010-3.

 

Finally, in the past years IUSE took part to other calls for the presentation of common projects to be financed by the European Programmes. For example:

  • SPECIFIC PROGRAMME “FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS AND CITIZENSHIP” (2007-2013) CALL FOR PROPOSALS JLS/2009-2010/FRAC/AG Action Grants SPECIFIC TRANSNATIONAL PROJECTS. Title of the project: “Young Ambassadors for an ethical sport “. Project Leader: TOP Torino 2006 Olympic Park
  • Participation to Public contract No EAC/19/2009 to be awarded by open procedure: Realisation of a “Study on the equal treatment of non-nationals in individual sports competitions”. Project Leader: TOP Torino 2006 Olympic Park
  • an application for European funding for the elaboration of a specific project, as part of the ‘Call for Proposals – EACEA/26/08 – “Structural support for research centres and think-tank on European policies and civil society organizations at European level. Aim of the project was to carry out a ‘survey at European level in the context of comparing education systems at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the legal area, titled “Building up a European Lawyer – Comparision Among different EU educational systems and academic progress towards Harmonisation .”
